The team carded a 100-over-par 964 (324-329-311) in the play-six, count-four tournament on The Ohio State University Golf Club's 6,268-yard, par-72 Scarlet Course. The Nittany Lions posted their best round of the tournament on the final day with a 311, which tied for the sixth-best third-round score of any team.

Junior Cassidy Bell (Bakersfield, Calif.) finished the season with a .423 average to become Penn State's new single-season batting champion, breaking Nan Sichler's 24-year-old record of .413. Senior Danee Collett (Rogersville, Tenn.) gathered an RBI double in Penn State's rallying effort but it wasn't enough.

    The Penn State softball team again proved to be the cardiac kids storming back from a three-run deficit to win in extra innings and split with Ohio State on Friday at Beard Field. OSU took the opener 5-2 and led by the same score in the nightcap, but Kasie Hatfield's (Tampa, Fla.) second home run of the game tied it up in the bottom of the seventh inning. Alicia Walker (Los Alamitos, Calif.) singled home Cassidy Bell (Bakersfield, Calif.) from second base for the game winner as PSU walked off with a 6-5 victory.

Illinois took the opener 4-2 before earning a 6-3 win in the nightcap. Cassidy Bell went 3-for-6 with two walks, two doubles, two runs scored and two stolen bases for the Nittany Lions. Bell raised her season average to .405 for the season, which ranks second best for a single season.

The first-year coach is scheduled to participate in all 18 Coaches Caravan stops across nine days in late April and early May.
